Our engineers were called out to a domestic blockage in Sevenoaks, Kent. After high pressure jetting and clearing the blockage, a CCTV camera survey was carried out which determined that there was root intrusion into the drain system and the drain had completely broken and collapsed.
Shows excavation carried out with a banks man present to ensure health and safety is adhered to
Shows surrounding trees in the area that have penetrated the drain system over the years and engineers preparing pilot hole for loss adjuster and customers to see the conditions of the drain system
Shows existing main sewer that is running along all the gardens, it also show the existing saddle where builders have connected in to the main sewer that appeared to be a totally illegal connection (thus being entered at the side and not the top and was possibly leaking when installed)
Pictures show lots of roots surrounding the bank of the excavation and the depth due to ladders next to the engineer
Picture showing connection to existing main sewer, carried out on top of the pipe with the correct clay saddle allowing the foul waste to enter the drain at the correct gradient
Pictures of the excavation show that we have put in place a new inspection chamber, to allow the gradient from the house down to the sewer to have the correct fall. We also ascertained that the previous pipe work was far too steep and had caused the customers a lot of blockages in the past, due to the water running over the top of the waste and leaving a blockage behind
Engineer preparing to put last Milton ring cut down to size, and pour concrete behind shuttering to prevent manhole from leaking
After clearing the blockage to the best of our ability, ARD Local emergency office then contacted the insurance company on behalf of our client, and provided them immediately with the diagnostics report, along with recommendations for further works. Once the insurance company had given the go ahead for recommended emergency works to be carried out, engineers met with the loss adjuster on site, to verify all the works that had to be carried out.
The pictures show the depth of the drain and the excavation that had to be carried out to allow a full repair on the drain system.
